The climatic changes suffered by our planet and their consequences are a very much discussed subject at present in Brazil and in the world.

Brazil has one of the richest biodiversities of the world. It has the biggest reserves of fresh water of the planet and a third of the rain forests that still remains.

Of each five species of the planet, one is here. This enormous variety of animals, plants, microorganisms and ecosystems, very unique in the whole world, among other factors, is due to the territorial extension and to the several climates of the country. Brazil detains the biggest number of known species of fresh water fishes and mammals, the second of amphibians, the third of birds and the fifth one of reptiles. With more than 50 thousand species of trees and shrubs, it has the first place in vegetal biodiversity. No other country has so many varieties of catalogued orchids and palm trees. The numbers impress, but according to the estimates accepted by the Environment Ministry (MMA in Portuguese), they can represent only 10% of the life in the country. As several regions are still very little studied by the scientists, the numbers of the Brazilian biodiversity become bigger so far as the knowledge increases.

Bioenergy intends to promote responsible environmental practices for itself and for its relationship net, enlarging the understanding of a sustainable society with basis in the conscious consumption and life quality, reaffirming the commitment with the well-being and the development of the communities where it acts.

With this finality, Bioenergy supports world-wide environmentalist organizations of reference through its program "Investing in Nature".

Environmental Education

In the Bioenergy projects, the environmental education is a key-activity. Through the Environmental Education Program, the organization looks for the involvement of the society in the environmental cares, starting from the integrated understanding of the complex relations of the human beings with the environment, with the others and with themselves.
